At Camp Figtree the stars of the Southern skies can be clearly seen in all their awesome beauty. The building blocks were created long before our planet and its home star, the Sun, came into existence.
Looking up from the mountain range where Camp Figtree is situated, one can see the silvery tentacles of the Milky Way stretching from one end of the sky to the other in an almost unparalleled clarity.
Summer (October to March) in Addo Elephant Park in South Africa, is a predominantly dry season with hot days and warm nights. Temperatures range from 25 to 40 degrees C (77 to 104 degrees F). Rainfall can be experienced during this period with exceptional summer rainfall in the north.
Winter (April to August) is the rainy season with generally cool days and cold nights. Temperatures range from 5 to 25 degrees C (41 to 77 degrees F).
Camp Figtree is situated 75 kilometres (46.6 miles) or an hour's drive from Port Elizabeth, within South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. The private game reserve borders The Addo Elephant National Park on 2 sides.

From Port Elizabeth
Take the N2 past Port Elizabeth. Take the N10 North toward Cookhouse. Turn left onto the R342 at Paterson. Drive approx.1km past the entrance to the Addo National Park. Turn right onto the Zuurberg Pass and drive for 11km. Turn left into the gate of Camp Figtree. Follow the track for 3km.
