Since April 2003, River Bend has been incorporated into the Addo Elephant National Park, and a huge animal relocation programme has placed Africa's 'Big 5' in the 14 000 hectare concession.

Owners Malcolm and Andrea Rutherford, are keen conservationists and by allowing their land to be incorporated into Greater Addo Elephant Park, they not only fulfil their conservation values, but assist in upliftment of the local community through job creation.

They recruited local people with no experience but lots of enthusiasm to work at River Bend. These staff were then sent on training courses and have subsequently attained such high standards that River Bend counts this as one of its proudest achievements. Children Activities

The emphasis at River Bend is about personalised experiences for all ages. To ensure that even the young children have a great time, there is a wide range of activities to keep them entertained.

Parents are welcome to join the children for many of these activities, otherwise there are experienced child-minders who will keep the young ones busy with fun while parents can enjoy quiet, game activities and pampering relaxation.
